Legalization

Legalization is authentication of documents intended to be used abroad or foreign documents intended to be used in Bulgaria. Here it’s performed by: the Ministry of Justice (for documents issued by Bulgarian courts or notaries), the Ministry of Education and Science (for educational documents and certificates issued by educational institutions in the system of the Ministry of Education and Science) and by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (for all other documents and for certification of translators’ signatures).

ELIAS translation agency provides legalization of your documents in these institutions with or without an Apostille, as well as legalization of the translations we’ve performed for or from abroad. Documents originating from or intended for countries, which are parties to the Hague Convention are legalized with an Apostille. Documents originating from or intended for countries, which have Legal Aid Agreements with Bulgaria, usually don’t need an Apostille. Documents originating from or intended for countries, which are not parties to the Hague Convention, are legalized in accordance with the old procedure, although sometimes in these cases documents can also receive an Apostille. Since the conditions for certification and legalization of documents for and from different countries are different, please, consult us in advance regarding your document and its usage in the respective country.
